GOYNUK CANYON – A GATEWAY TO PARADISE
How about a crazy, wet, and fun adventure to remember forever???
Every day, right after breakfast at Kadir’s, we take a bus full of
crazy people ready for adventure and after a 45 minute drive we
arrive at Göynük Canyon. This Canyon was discovered recently and, in
contrary to the well known Saklikent Canyon, its nature is still
unspoilt. A 20 minute walk through an amazing environment takes us
to the entrance of the canyon. Here your experienced guide will hand
you your wet suits and repeat the info about the activity. If you
say you can swim a bit you will be handed your live vest immediately
and enter the canyon accompanied by your guide. You will make your
way through the canyon between rock faces that are hundreds of
meters high. You will swim, walk and climb short stretches. At some
places there are ladders and during the climbs you will always be
accompanied by your guide. The best fun is standing under a
waterfall and jumping into the waters below!
With a group that proceeds with average speed you will reach the big
waterfall at the end of the canyon within 3 hours time. The way back
is fun too… You simply slide your way down the smooth rocks and drop
off into water pools. But the biggest excitement is jumping off the
5 meter high waterfall. You have the choice of jumping down or using
the ladder. After a short therapy session most people decide to jump
and you should see their smiles afterwards… JUMP!!!
The reward at the end of our adventure is a great dinner at one of
the famous fish restaurants in Ulupýnar… Enjoy trout backed in the
oven on a clay tile accompanied by freshly backed bread with butter
and many other delightful side dishes… Don’t miss their special
dessert with halva and ice cream..
Advice: Bring sandals or comfortable walking shoes with you. It is
best to apply sun screen before starting out on the 30 minute walk
to the canyon. You can bring your sunglasses and camera to the start
of the canyon. If you would like to take pictures in the canyon you
will need a waterproof camera.
